The facility consists of a series of containers placed one after the other through which the water circulates by means of gravity and communicating vessels, losing particles and residues through a series of natural filters. The water can be used to water gardens and clean patios (is not drinkable).
The objective of the workshop is to contribute to our understanding of the water cycle and to increase our awareness of the fact that water is a scarce resource and is fundamental for life.
In this way, through a very simple experience, water that would normally end up in the sewage network is treated and reused; in short, it is given value. Small gestures can bring about big changes.
1.
PREPARE materials - Clean the gravel. - Make a hole in the base of the bottles (the size of the cap). - Perforate the bottle caps. - Protect the metal bar with the PVC pipe.

PIERCE the bottles - The system is made up of 5 bottles (1 as a funnel, 3 as filters and 1 for collection). - The bottles are arranged consecutively and are pierced by the bar. - The bar is fixed 50 cm into the ground to keep the system vertical.

ILL in the filter bottles Upper and lower bottles: - Fine gravel (5-cm layer) - Medium-sized gravel (5-cm layer) - Thick gravel (5-cm layer) - Activated charcoal - Cotton - Grille Middle bottle: - Earth (8-cm layer) with asparagus plant - Thick gravel (5-cm layer) - Medium-sized gravel (5-cm layer) - Fine gravel (5-cm layer) - Cotton - Grille
Checkout the system
– Pour the dirty water into the top bottle.
–Â The water must go through the different layers until it pours out into the last bottle (for collection).
– Check that the water comes out clear (not suitable for drinking).
