INTRODUCTION

Most urban interventions are tactical and visual, however urban environments offer a rich sound context. Sound is composed by vibrations that can be heard when they reach people´s or animals´ ears. Different species and organisms perceive and use these vibrations in different ways. There is evidence that sound can have an impact on our health. But the link between sound and environmental health is an underexplored area and offers a fruitful opportunity to better understand the role of sound in urban placemaking.
